My Final Reflection on Stereotyping.

When I started my research on stereotyping I asked myself is stereotyping fair, I used that as my essential question. As I got deeper into my research I started finding out some interesting thing about stereotyping none of it had to do with my essential question but it was just as interesting.

I found out what stereotyping is, I never knew what it really was I always thought that it was something bad but I found out while I was doing my research that it also can be positive.I don't think I answered my essential question but I do think it helped me come up with an opinion to my question. If You was to ask me if I thought stereotyping is fair I would tell you that I think it is not fair just because of the info I got when I was doing my research just by reading the definition. Stereotype is a simplified and/or standardized conception or image with specific meaning, often held in common by one group of people about another group.

The reason why I started to ask myself this question is because at the time when we got assigned this project I had felt as though people that I thought were my friends were stereotyping me. I never knew why people stereotype others like myself I though I was a good person so I never thought people would think things of me or talk about me when I'm not around, But I guess that's how everyone is even I do it sometime.I just do it more in a positive way then in a negative way. We all make mistakes so when I started this I did think of those people who talked about me or hated me I just thought about how I could find away to educate others on this subject and find out some answers to my question.

The more I did my research the more interesting it became to me. I found so much stuff on stereotyping. I found books articles and even pictures on this subject. there where wed sites for kids to look at that would teach them more about this so that they won't grow up stereotyping others. Books that helped people to over come stereotyping so that they won't judge people anymore.

I think if we learned how to control this problem that people have we would all get along better i no i have learn much more then i expected to and i plan on teaching other what i have learned over the past five or six weeks that i have been doing this for. i hope to teach the people that stereotyped me that there are positive ways to stereotype then just using negative one's. I'm hoping that they will read my research and learn alot from it, Because i think every one who read s this blog can learn from it weather they use it or not i hope that i have helped someone to understand it a little better.

Week 4- Search on Stereotyping

At this website, http://www.cdli.ca/CITE/hc_stereotyping.pdf

Students examine the definition of a stereotype, look at where stereotypes come from and complete a sheet on the current stereotypes that they may have. Through the use of this website, students have a better understanding of how stereotypes exist all around us and that everyone has some kind of stereotype that they can learn more about and, hopefully, change.I love that this web site helps kids learn more about stereotypes because if they grow up stereotyping others its going to make them in to a person they don't want to be.We should teach kids the positive side of stereotyping but when it comes to the negative they shouldn't no to much about it because you can really hurt people when u stereotype them.I think having this website was a good idea there should be more websites like this on the web so that we can be more educated on this subject.

I decided to add some more to my search this week as i was going through some websites i found this guy named David Scheider who wrote a book about stereotyping this book is called The Psychology of Stereotyping

Haynes, Kim. "Overcoming Stereotyping:." Websites for Students: May 6,2008 .
